From the morning of Saturday 6th of August alterations to the flying area will start for a trial period.
As you know we had a change in landlord earlier in the year, he is slowly making changes to the farm and as those who visit regularly will know has seen the area of horse paddocks move.
The horses are now back in the field where they were before our last move, this and an increase in the number of animals has lead to over flight problems by larger and faster moving models.

To avoid any further problems from over flights we will move the parking/pit/starting area and flight line to the southern area of the Autograss track.
The south west/north east runway remains in use, the north west/south east runway has been lengthened and an additional east/west strip has been added.  See attached map.

The grass on the new areas is at this time a bit poor but it is usable with the right size wheels. The grass will improve with cutting but it needs some rain first.
The map shows the circuit patterns to be flown and the main flying area still is still to the north - east.
While the farm and paddocks are now safely behind us the M5 is now in front. Extreme care is now required while flying to make sure models do no encroach into the motor way no fly area.
Unlike the paddocks fliers will have no doubt as to where the motorway is, if you can’t see the motorway then you shouldn’t be flying models or even driving to the field.

There is plenty of room for the large majority of models flown within the club to fly safely those with larger/faster flying models must exercise extreme care and will be closely monitored in their flight patterns.
Various measures will be taken to record models flying out towards the motorway and photographic evidence of models position will be produced.
The flight line will be along the southern edge of the area, the flag poles/straw bales make this area quite obvious, the starting tables will be on the south side of the flag poles. I will produce a map of this area just as soon as I can get a good aerial photograph.

For less experienced fliers please hav an experienced flier with you at all times until you are cleared to fly alone.
Any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be at the field tomorrow night (Friday) and hope to be on site all day Saturday.
I would be grateful if you would acknowledge receipt of this e-mail.

Please ensure all three gates are kept shut at all times.

The main road gate of the B4008 must be shut and padlocked at all times as usual.  please do not leave code on lock, this is the last long shank padlock we have so please let me know if you find it damaged.

Middle gate must be shut at all times as there is now live stock (sheep cows) in the Autograss field.

The gate/fence panel into the track must also be kept closed for the time being, this to keep the cows of the track and our strip.

The gates are a bit of pain (I should know) but if you arrange to arrive together and leave in convoy then passage through can be expedited. Do not leave the middle gate open and unattended in the expectation that somebody is following as livestock only need a few seconds to escape.
Richard the farmer thanked us for no longer over flying the farm and paddocks it has not gone unnoticed by his family and other horse owners.
The new layout seems to be working well, though use of the field has been limited recently due to the continuing poor weather.

New 19/10/2011

The opening in the south western corner is no longer to be used.
The new entrance is the south eastern corner, that's the corner straight ahead of you and to the right as you enter through the middle gate.

The Auto grass track has now been regraded and will in the next few days by reseeded, do not drive over it, park by the Armco, at the corner where you have entered, A limit for vehicles will be marked out once the seeding has been completed.

The next step will be to establish a road into the track from the existing on just inside the middle gate.

Also once the grass sprouts we will again establish a "bridge" across the track for winter use. If we can source enough heavy duty pallets then it may be possible to make this into a vehicular crossing.

The above should ensure access through the winter months to all vehicles so if we get a nice day we will get more flying in.

If the new access does get to wet/cut up for vehicles then there is always a fall back of parking on the hard core just inside the middle gate.

I hope the above will be an improvement on the past winters.

Another new lock has been fitted to the gate, you have push this to release it and spin the numbers before locking

The grass track has been seeded so please do not drive across, the limit to the parking area by the armco has been marked out please use this area until further notice.

A foot path across the track has also been marked. The bales have all been removed and the pit area will be mowed shortly.

The lock to the main gate has failed again, this one was provided by the Autograss club, didn't survive the month, another lock will be sourced tomorrow (Wednesday) the code will remain the same.

Chris B.

From Monday March 16th the club will be flying from the new strip located within the Autograss Track.  Notices and directions have been erected.

Please do not drive around farmers fields follow the signs. Please follow the tracks across both fields.

Please close the gate off the main road at all times. That's close the clasp and spin the numbers. Do not leave open because somebody else is following, they may get held up. Either wait at the gate until they catch up or close and lock it.

The new strip seems to have met with favour of those who have used it. Flying with your back to the sun in the afternoon is very welcome.
