Indoor flying 13th
January 2007
Another day of strong winds and
rain tempted many out in the evening. With a few regulars missing some new faces helped keep up the numbers with even more
watching.
Many new models, several being
own designs. There was one new OD shocky but I failed to get a pic before the owner left having had a mishap. However not
before he had it flying really well.
Ken M. had a new Blade but found
the model disappointing.
Ken B. had an enlarged BMFA Dart.
This was a free plan a few years back designed for a .15 so Ken fitted a geared speed 400. The first test flight on just 2
cells was just a long glide but three it actual flew. For a large model keeping it in the hall was no problem but some strange
power/pitch problems made for interesting flying?
A couple of pretty new “proper”
helicopters. Adrian’s Aplus 400 is a new on to me, but after I sorted out some tail/gyro set up problems it flew very
well. By the end of the evening Adrian had it hovering when I took the pictures.
Paul B. using the proceeds no
doubt of his sale to me of a Walkera 36B flew a new Align 3DX 400, I think these size models are about the limit for small
sports hall.
Phil “the fridge”
had two new models made from sheet corex, the delta flew extremely well looking very jet like in the air. The round No 14
left a bit to be desired!
I had my recently acquired Walkera
36B flying, although I have to cure a sticking tail rotor, it does fly very well. The performance of these “cheaper”
heli’s is amazing and for a beginner they are real value for money.
For the first time ever I went
home from an indoor event with nothing to repair! Made my wife very suspicious!
See you all in fortnight.
