10th February 2007

Following a week of some severe weather and with a poor weather forecast for the weekend saturday night saw a good turnout for the first indoor event in February.

A slightly earlier start allowed for checking of transmitters, most were spot on but some of the cheaper sets from the east that are supplied with electric heli’s were slightly off frequency.

Rather than the previous free for all airtime the evening was split into fixed & heli slots, also with keeping tighter frequency control and 20 Mhz spacing gave for a trouble free evening. Despite only allowing four models on the floor at any one time all felt they actually got more air time than previous evenings.

Very few new models this time Paul G. had an Icarus Pitts shocky, after a few minutes successful flying, a coming together with the wall put it out of action for the rest of the evening.

The standard of flying has over the last couple of months improved immensely with many now flattening batteries before retiring for repairs. On several occasions there were three or even four models flying together with only the odd coming together.

Thanks to Mark Burnham and his daughter for running transmitter contol for the evening and to Clive for his handywork with the camera.

Roll on 24th December.
