Another great evenings flying indoors. That’s what’s great about it no sitting about waiting for the wind to drop or sheltering in the car from the rain.

A few new faces from the South Cotswold Soaring Association helped swell numbers.

Chris Howey finally obtained a “Crash” from Robotbirds flew very well very slow and stable and easy to fly in a small hall. I have long thought this a good indoor trainer to take the place of the now non-available IFO.

Chris’s choice of engine was more than powerful enough but a poorly designed prop driver/saver kept him grounded for a lot of the evening.

Lots of motors around suitable with sensible prop driver/saver anything in the 30-40W region should be more than ample.

Paul of the unsuitable models turned up with a Depron Starship Enterprise. Based loosely on free plan Paul modified the twin motor set up to a single fixed to a servo to give directional control. Now the plan said launch at warp 2 power setting only, I had read that bit Paul hadn’t and I neglected to mention it. So he used warp 8 setting (Full power), result a smooth acceleration into hyperspace? No, a neat stall turn into the floor followed a few minutes later by a short glide to the waste bin.

After our previous 4 meeting there had been few mid airs and nobody stuck in the rafters. That was to change, see pictures, I think it’s that we are starting to get the hang of it.

See in all in two weeks.
