Indoor flying March 10th.

With the lengthening evenings and with a nice but windy day outside numbers were down a bit due to the Stroud lads staying flying off the slope.

Only a couple of new models, Chris Bossy was flying a new T-rex 450 SE(CDE). Having progressed quickly from a Sabre through a Walkera 36 Chris has succumbed to the quality of the Align helicopter. It flew superbly (mental note must add T.rex to my must have list).

Impressed by Paul’s version of a Pogo last week I scaled down my large version by 70% and built a 3 mm Depron version. I had flown (well hovered) the original indoors but found it really to large for indoor use. The small version retains the four-servo/four aileron set up; it flew very well vertical take offs and landing being easy in no wind conditions.

Finally got superman flying, moving the C of G forward improved things a lot plus the addition of rudders for steering. Paul didn’t get any still’s this time but managed to keep his composure and shot some very good video footage. This footage will feature in a major new movie due to go on national release in April.

Later in the evening while trying to evade the “Holy Cow” superman fell from his hiding place behind a basket ball net, he sustained injuries to his arms back neck and right leg, sadly he passed away peacefully doing the night.

The next indoor session on March 24th and will be the last of the winter as the clock’s change on this day also. So if you don’t make this one you will have to wait till the autumn for another chance to fly indoors.

I know this Extra 300 gets shown a lot. But I just had to include these two great shots by Ken Bril

Apologies for lack of pictures but also took a lot of video for use in forthcoming feature film.
