The GMFC has booked the Bentham Country club for 26 Saturdays. Flying starts at 6.00 pm until 8.30 pm. Cost will remain the same £5.00 per session It is also planned to run one or two special events/classes during the next few months.

We will be using the "smaller" of the two large white domes that you can see as you travel along the Brockworth bypass. Access to the country club is only 5 mins from the A46 junction on the Brockworth bypass.

From the junction of the Brockworth bypass/A46 take A46 towards Stroud. At first roundabout (Toby carvery and Shell petrol station) take left towards Witcombe /Bentham (this is the old Cirencester Road). Follow this road through Witcombe, back under bypass and the entrance to country club is on your left as you come to the first right hand bend. There is ample parking right outside the main entrance.

Because the doom is not a rigid structure it has to be kept slightly pressurised to maintain its shape. Therefore it is airtight and access is only by an airlock. This is a revolving door that allows only one person in/out at a time. Make sure your models and you can get through this door (see pictures below).
No doubt Phil will be on hand with video camera to film fliers doing a “chuckle brothers” act and getting their pride and joy snapped in two as well as damaging their models.

There is a large area at the entrance end, which forms a great pit area and spectator gallery. There are plenty of chairs and tables so you don’t need your own, plus mains sockets for running of chargers lap tops etc. The odd extension lead might be useful.

The floor area is 40 X 40 metres with a slightly larger flying area, the roof is clear with no ceiling furniture to fly through, sadly there are no vertical walls so won't be able to practice wall landings. For comparison Chosen Hill is approx 25 X 15 meters with all sorts of ceiling furniture.

The lighting pillars seen around the sides have now been repositioned upright but are still a hazard round the sides. The lights shine upwards, at night when switched on the dome is far more brightly lit than it is in daytime.

This is my Great Planes Yard Stick, which is quite a large park flier, it becomes quite lost in the space.

The Bar will be open up until 8.45pm.!
