Nearly there, only three days left of what seems like the longest January ever. Ok so it was in reality exactly the same as any other January 31 days or will be when it's over.

To me it seems to have been one of the most miserable months I can remember, plus hyped as one of the coldest ever. Even escaping to the Mediterranean on 'work breaks' wasn't much better as they even had snow and sub zero temperatures in the middle of Italy, when it wasn't raining.

The only plus point of this January are the five Saturdays, which means we still have one more to go before the months out. Turnout for these nights have been good with a lot of new faces plus a few old ones from the distant past saying hello.

As we approach the 1st of February I must remind members that if they have not renewed there membership then they are no longer insured to fly. I will be collecting membership on Saturday night and requiring proof of insurance before you fly again. You can also renew BMFA membership direct with the BMFA office or through any other affiliated club.

Not much activity down the field in January although a couple of good Sundays did see a few hardy fliers out with their helicopters.

The strip in good condition but the grass is getting a bit long. There are patches of standing water on the track bu a few dry paths across, the parking area is relatively dry. Good foot ware being required.

The track across the field is passable, given a couple of dry days and the water goes quite quickly but a lot of mud remains. Front wheel drive and 4 X 4's should not have a problem but it will be sometime before I venture across in my MR2. Please use existing tracks and do not drive further onto field.
